Most people loves the longest range electric cars and one of the biggest worries for people who are shopping for a car is the driving range. One very strong reason for this is range anxiety, the fear that your EV won’t have enough battery power to finish a trip. Of course, no one wants to drive an EV that quickly runs out of charge. Hence, It’s kind of like running out of gas in a regular car.
In light of this, we found 18 EVs on the market right now that have EPA scores for the 2023 model year and can go at least 300 miles on a single charge. Additionally, the cars come in a range of styles and sizes, from large, luxurious SUVs to small, useful crossovers and high-performance sports sedans. So, first, we look at the car that gives us the most range per charge. Then, we move down the list.
All ranges are based on numbers that the EPA thinks are likely, but they are only guesses. Moreover, right now, we’re not including cars that don’t have EPA figures, like the GMC Hummer EV pickup. Manufacturer estimates also don’t work for this list. Hence, your range may change based on the weather, where you drive, how you drive, how many people are in your car, and other things.
The prices shown here are for the trim level that gives you the most miles per gallon. However, depending on the style you pick, the driving range may be very different. Any possible neighborhood, state, or federal tax breaks for electric vehicles (EVs) were not taken into account when we calculated the prices. The last time this story was changed was in November 2023, so the range, prices, and options may have changed by the time you read it.

1. The Lucid Air

516 miles is the longest range for an electric car.
The Tesla Model S is no longer the best long-range car because of the Lucid Air (at least for now). The 520-mile-range Air Dream Edition is sold out, but the 516-mile-range Grand Touring with all-wheel drive and 19-inch wheels isn’t far behind. There is still more than 400 miles of range in the 2023 model year, even in the base trims (Touring and Pure). That’s why it is placed at the top of the list of longest range electric cars.
2. The Tesla Model S
The price is $76,380, which also includes $1,390 for shipping.
The longest range for an electric car is 405 miles.
The Tesla Model S is an electric car that is fast, stylish, and roomy. The Model S has changed the way people think about electric cars since it came out in 2012. A Model S is not a golf cart. It handles well and speeds up faster than some of the world’s fastest sports cars. Additionally, the EPA says that the regular Model S can go 405 miles on a single charge with 19-inch wheels and dual-motor all-wheel drive. The more powerful Plaid version can go 396 miles on a single charge with smaller wheels. However, each version has bigger 21-inch wheels that lower the greatest range.
3. The Hyundai Ioniq 6
Price: $46,615 (includes $1,115 for shipping)
The longest range for an electric car is 361 miles.
With an EPA-estimated 361-mile maximum range, the all-new 2023 Ioniq 6 is the second car in Hyundai’s all-electric sub-brand, following the Ioniq 5 SUV. Moreover, the sedan’s long-range RWD version with 18-inch wheels is right at the top of this list. So, if you choose the available all-wheel drive (AWD) with the long-range model, the range drops to 316 miles.
When you choose 20-inch wheels, it drops even more, to 305 miles. When you choose the least expensive SE standard-range model, which only has rear-wheel drive, the maximum range drops to just 240 miles. So, it’s the Ioniq 6’s turn to compete with the Tesla Model 3, and with an extra 3 miles of range, it just barely edges it out.
4. The Tesla Model 3
Cost: $47,380
The longest range for an electric car is 358 miles.
At number of the list of longest range electric cars we have The Tesla Model 3. The Tesla Model 3 may be smaller and less expensive than the Model S, but it has just as much range. However, the Long Range version of the Model 3 has the longest range at 358 miles. Additionally, the next longest range Model 3 is the Performance variant with dual-motor AWD, which is more powerful and has 315 miles of range. But the Standard Range Model 3 has a range of 272 miles, which is a good amount.
5. The Tesla Model X
The price is $81,380, which includes $1,390 for shipping.
The longest range for an electric car is 348 miles.
Tesla has a lot of cars on this list, and one reason is that the Model X SUV with dual-motor all-wheel drive and importantly, 20-inch wheels has a range of 348 miles. The Model X has some strange features, like a huge windshield that curves over the front seats, back Falcon Wing doors that open upward, and additionally an optional small third-row seat that’s best for kids who need a serious timeout. Moreover, to think about it, the Model X’s electric motors and lithium-ion battery pack are probably the most normal parts of it. The regular model has the longest range per charge, but the Plaid model can go from 0 to 60 mph in less than three seconds.
6. Mercedes-Benz EQS450 4-door sedan
The price is $108,550, which includes $1,150 for shipping.
The longest power range is 340 miles.
When it came out in 2022, the EQS Sedan was Mercedes’s first all-electric car. It was a battery-powered version of the S-Class and a new competitor for the Tesla car S. The 450+ RWD, single-motor car had the best range in 2022, at 350 miles, but it hasn’t been rated by the EPA yet for 2023. The 450 4Matic, which has a second motor and all-wheel drive and a range of 340 miles, is now the top model. You can also get the EQS580 with the dual-motor AWD setup. We liked both powertrains and how agile the cars were with rear-wheel steering, but we didn’t like the big touchscreen display or Mercedes’ choice to use a lot of touch-sensitive controls.
7. The Tesla Model Y
Price: $49,880, which includes $1,390 for delivery
The longest electric range is 330 miles.
The Model Y SUV came out for the 2020 model year. It shares the same platform and engine as the Model 3 sedan. The Model Y, like the Model 3, has quick turning and enough power to keep you in your seat when you speed up quickly. The Long Range model with 19-inch wheels has the longest range at 330 miles. However, the Performance model, which still has 303 miles of range, is the best choice for people who want the most speed. 8. The Rivian R1T
Price: $74,800, which includes $1,800 for shipping.
The longest power range is 328 miles.
A recent software update gave the Rivian R1T pickup truck a big range boost. Its EPA-rated range has gone from 314 miles to 328 miles. The R1T is the first fully electric pickup of this generation to hit the market. It costs almost $75,000 and has a big 135-kilowatt-hour battery pack and four motors. Rivian has said that in the future, a cheaper Explore Package will not be available, but a form of the EV with two motors and a smaller, shorter-range battery will be. We liked the current R1T a lot in the short time we had the chance to drive it, but we’re looking forward to a longer test.
9. The BMW iX
The price is $88,095, which includes $995 for shipping.
The longest range for an electric car is 324 miles.
The iX, BMW’s first all-electric SUV, is now on our list. Its maximum range is 324 miles. You can get that range in the less powerful AWD xDrive50 with 20-inch wheels. Prices go up and range goes down with bigger 21- or 22-inch wheels. The new, performance-focused 2023 iX M60 with 22-inch wheels drops even more, to 274 miles. We don’t really like how the iX looks on the outside or how its buttons work with our fingers, but we can’t wait to drive it.
10. The Rivian R1S
Price: $79,800, which includes $1,800 for delivery
The longest range for an electric car is 321 miles.
Rivian’s second vehicle to go on sale is the R1S electric SUV, which uses the R1T’s battery pack and powertrain. It comes after the pickup. The SUV’s range went from 316 miles to 321 miles after it got a software update, just like its sister. The R1S can go as far as its maximum range with 21-inch wheels. With 22-inch wheels, it can go as far as 303 miles, but only with 289 miles on 20-inch wheels.
11. Lightning Ford F-150
Price: $72,490, which includes $1,895 for shipping.
The longest power range is 320 miles.
The much-anticipated F-150 Lightning was first thought to have a range of about 300 miles. However, the all-electric form of Ford’s popular F-150 pickup went farther than that, at least for the XLT and Lariat trims. With the extra extended-range battery pack, both models can go as far as 320 miles. The Platinum only comes with the extended-range pack, and it can go up to 300 miles. Lightning trucks with the standard range can go up to 230 miles. What we really like about the Lightning is how much it feels like a regular F-150. However, an all-electric F-150 Lightning will cost more than a similar gas-powered F-150.
12. BMW i7
The price is $120,295, which includes $995 for delivery.
The longest range for an electric car is 318 miles.
The all-new i7 xDrive60 is an electric version of BMW’s redesigned 7 Series car. It is the company’s third fully electric vehicle, after the i4 sedan and the iX SUV. With a range of 318 miles, it’s not as far as the iX but farther than the i4. The i7 has two electric motors and a 101.7-kWh battery pack that give it a total of 536 horsepower. So, if you choose 19-inch wheels, the full-size sedan’s range drops to 296 miles but if you choose 20- or 21-inch wheels, the range drops to 308 miles.
13. The Cadillac Lyriq
Price: $62,990, which includes $1,195 for shipping.
The longest range for an electric car is 312 miles.
The Cadillac Lyriq was the brand’s first all-electric car, and it came out in 2022. The SUV has a 102-kWh battery pack and two engine options: 340-hp single-motor RWD and 500-hp dual-motor AWD. However, the 340-hp single-motor RWD gives the SUV a range of 312 miles. There are no more orders for the 2023 Lyriq, but the 2024 model is expected to have the same range numbers and a lower starting price for the new Tech trim.
14. The fast Ford Mustang
The price is $59,295, which includes $1,800 for the trip.

The 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E, in the California Route 1 trim, has the longest range of all Mustang Mach-E cars at 312 miles. It was initially made available for the model year 2021. So, after having to cancel orders for the Mustang Mach-E in 2022, Ford promised to increase production. Now, the long-range California Route 1 is back with a price cut of over $5,000. However, our time in the Mustang Mach-E has been hit or miss. It has a lot of power and useful technology, but the ride is rough and there are rare bugs.
15. The Kia EV6
Price: $50,025 (includes $1,325 for delivery)
The longest power range is 310 miles.
The EV6 is Kia’s first battery-electric vehicle (EV) on a dedicated platform; the Soul EV and Niro EV use electric powertrains in their current architectures. It’s another “Is it a hatchback? What is that? A wagon? A style group called “An SUV?” There are several trim levels to choose from, as well as single-motor RWD or dual-motor all-wheel drive. Hence, the RWD Wind and GT-Line models have the best range, with 310 miles.
16. The SUV Mercedes-EQ EQS450+
The price is $105,550, which includes $1,150 for shipping.
The longest electric range is 305 miles.
It’s not the same as the Mercedes-EQ EQS450 Sedan, even though they share the same name. Mercedes’ electric GLS has a few advantages over its lower-riding cousin, like a more comfortable second row and more space for cargo. The car is better in some ways, but not in terms of range: The EQS Sedan has the best range, at 340 miles. On the other hand, the EQS450+ SUV has the worst range, at 305 miles in single-motor RWD mode. The dual-motor EQS450 4Matic model has a range of only 285 miles.
17. The Nissan Ariya
Price: $48,525 (includes $1,335 for shipping)
The longest power range is 304 miles.
The 2023 Nissan Ariya is a new battery-powered SUV that comes with two battery packs: a standard-range 63-kWh battery pack and an extended-range 87-kWh battery pack. The SUV used to only come with a single-motor front-wheel drive, but now it also comes with a dual-motor all-wheel drive setup for both battery types.
The bigger battery gives the Venture Plus model a range of up to 304 miles when paired with FWD, according to EPA estimates. The base model with the smaller battery, on the other hand, has a range of only 216 miles. Importantly, the Ariya is about the same size as its gas-powered sister, the Rogue. Additionally, it drives like a typical compact SUV, with a smooth ride, precise steering, and a quiet cabin.
18. The BMW i4 Gran Coupe
The price is $58,095, which includes $995 for shipping.
The longest power range is 301 miles.
The BMW i4 Gran Coupe, which has 18-inch wheels and a single motor for rear-wheel drive, also just missed the deadline. Additionally, it has a range of 301 miles. Like many of the other cars on the list, the price goes up and the range goes down when bigger wheels are added. Like the iX SUV, there is a more powerful eDrive M50 version that is faster and has all-wheel drive, but it can only go 271 miles. So, we have cautiously positive first thoughts about the i4, and we believe the Tesla Model 3 now has a real competitor.
This list’s mileage requirement went from 200 miles to 300 miles, which meant that many EVs on the market today did not make the cut. However, the Chevrolet Bolt EV and Bolt EUV, the Nissan Leaf, the Polestar 2, the Porsche Taycan and Taycan Gran Turismo, the Volkswagen ID.4, and the Volvo XC40 Recharge are all in this group.
